Method

Cooking Instructions
  1. Slice the beef sirloin or flank steak thinly against the grain into strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper. Add egg and gradually mix in water until achieving a smooth batter.
  3. Heat approximately 1 inch of vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat until hot, about 350°F (175°C). Dip beef strips into the batter and fry in batches for about 3-4 minutes until golden brown.
  4. In a wok, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic, ginger, chopped onion, and bell pepper. Sauté for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
  5. Stir in soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, chili sauce, and sugar. Allow to simmer for about 2 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  6. Add the crispy beef strips into the wok and gently toss for about 2-3 minutes until well coated.
  7. Transfer to a serving platter, garnish with sliced chilies and chopped green onions. Serve alongside steamed rice or noodles.
