Method
 

Cake Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease three 9-inch round cake pans and dust with flour.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract; beat on medium speed for 2 minutes until smooth.
  4. Fold in boiling water gently until well combined.
  5. Evenly distribute batter into prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes. Cakes are done when a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.
Frosting and Assembly
  1. Beat unsalted butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar and cocoa powder.
  2. Mix in milk and vanilla until the frosting is smooth.
  3. Spread fudge frosting between each cake layer and cover the outside of the cake.
  4. For ganache, heat cream until it boils, then pour over chopped chocolate and stir until smooth.
  5. Pour ganache over the top of the frosted cake and let it drip down the sides.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
