Cake Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line three 6-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Mix in eggs and vanilla extract, alternating with the dry ingredients and buttermilk.
- Stir in hot coffee until well combined.
- Divide batter evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 39-44 minutes.
- Let cakes cool in the pans for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the ganache, heat heavy cream until steaming, pour over chopped chocolate, and stir until smooth.
- Once cakes are cool, level layers and stack with a layer of ganache in between.
- Pour ganache over the assembled cake and allow to set in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Decorate with chocolate-covered strawberries or berries of your choice.
