Method
 

Cake Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line three 6-inch cake pans with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in eggs and vanilla extract, alternating with the dry ingredients and buttermilk.
  5. Stir in hot coffee until well combined.
  6. Divide batter evenly among the prepared pans and bake for 39-44 minutes.
  7. Let cakes cool in the pans for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. For the ganache, heat heavy cream until steaming, pour over chopped chocolate, and stir until smooth.
  9. Once cakes are cool, level layers and stack with a layer of ganache in between.
  10. Pour ganache over the assembled cake and allow to set in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  11. Decorate with chocolate-covered strawberries or berries of your choice.
