Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
- Mix together the dry ingredients: all-purpose flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder in a bowl.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate eggs, vanilla extract, and almond extract into the mixture.
- Combine the wet and dry ingredients until just mixed.
- Spread 2/3 of the batter into the prepared baking dish, creating a solid base.
- Add the cherry pie filling evenly over the batter, then drop dollops of remaining batter on top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and edges are bubbling.
- Allow to cool on a wire rack for at least an hour.
- Whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla, almond extract, and milk for the glaze.
- Drizzle glaze over cooled bars and let it set before cutting into squares.
