Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C) and prepare your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Grate frozen unsalted butter into a bowl with self-rising flour and combine gently with a fork.
  3. Chill the mixture in the freezer for 15 minutes to firm up the butter.
  4. Stir in the cold buttermilk until the mixture forms a sticky dough.
  5. Transfer the dough to a floured counter and shape it into a rectangle about ¾ to 1 inch thick.
  6. Cut the dough into four equal pieces, stack them, and press down gently to create layers.
  7. Cut out biscuit rounds from the stacked dough without twisting the cutter and place on baking sheet.
  8. Chill the cut biscuits on the baking sheet for another 15 minutes.
  9. Brush the tops with melted butter and bake for 13 to 15 minutes until golden.
  10. Remove from the oven and brush with more melted butter; allow to cool slightly before serving.
