  • 1 lb Ground Beef or ground turkey or chicken
  • 0.5 cup Onion diced
  • 2 cloves Garlic minced
  • 0.5 tsp Paprika or cayenne for heat
  • 0.5 tsp Dried Thyme or oregano
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce or soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Paste or ketchup
  • 0.5 cup Beef Broth or vegetable broth
  • to taste Salt and Pepper
Biscuit Topping
  • 1 cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese or mozzarella
  • 1.25 cups All-Purpose Flour or gluten-free flour
  • 1 tbsp Baking Powder
  • 0.5 tsp Garlic Powder omit if sensitive
  • 0.25 tsp Salt
  • 0.5 cup Cold Unsalted Butter cubed, or coconut oil
  • 0.5 cup Whole Milk or non-dairy milk
Optional Finish
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Fresh Parsley for garnish
  • 2 tbsp Melted Butter for brushing

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for 5-7 minutes and drain excess fat.
  3. Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for 3-4 minutes until onion is translucent.
  4. Stir in paprika, thyme, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, and beef broth, and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Mix in shredded cheddar cheese until melted, then transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  6. In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt. Cut in cubed butter until crumbly.
  7. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese and milk until just combined.
  8. Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough over the beef filling, spacing them out.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until biscuits are golden brown.
  10. Brush the biscuits with melted butter and let the cobbler rest for 5 minutes before serving.
