Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) and line your cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and fresh lemon zest.
  3. Create a well in the center of the dry ingredients and add the large egg, cooled melted butter, and your choice of milk. Mix gently.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently for about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Divide the dough into small pieces, roll each into thin ropes, and tie them into knots or form into circles.
  6. Place each shaped cookie on the prepared cookie sheet, ensuring space between them.
  7. Bake your cookies for 15-18 minutes until they are light golden in color.
  8. Once cooled, mix the sifted powdered sugar, fresh lemon juice, and splash of milk to prepare the glaze.
  9. Drizzle the lemon glaze generously over each cooled cookie.
