Cooking Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) if baking later. You can also finish on the stovetop.
  2. In a heavy-bottom skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add onion and sauté for about 2 minutes until translucent. Incorporate ground beef and seasonings; sauté for 5-8 minutes until browned.
  3. Remove beef and set aside. In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of olive oil and diced potatoes. Cook potatoes for about 1 minute.
  4. Pour in ¼ cup of water, cover, and steam for 15-20 minutes until tender. Add more water if necessary to keep from sticking.
  5. Return ground beef to skillet, stir in mustard, Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, and more water if dry. Mix well.
  6. Stir half of the cheddar cheese into the mixture. Spread remaining cheese on top and bake for about 5 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving. Serve warm with optional garnishes like herbs or hot sauce.
