Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of sesame oil in a large pot over medium heat. Add the chicken thighs and brown for 4-5 minutes on each side, then remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, water, garlic, ginger, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Return the browned chicken to the pot, cover, and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 30-35 minutes.
  4. Remove the chicken and increase the heat. Simmer the sauce uncovered for 5-10 minutes until thickened.
  5. Serve the chicken with sauce and garnish with chopped green onions.
