Equipment

Method

Cooking Steps
  1. Pat the beef brisket dry and rub with olive oil. Combine brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to create a spice mix. Apply generously to the brisket and let sit for 30 minutes or refrigerate overnight.
  2. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C). Place brisket fat-side up in a roasting pan, pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, cover tightly with aluminum foil, and bake for 3.5 to 4 hours until fork-tender.
  3. For the sauce, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and optional liquid smoke in a saucepan. Heat over medium until simmering and thickened (15-20 minutes).
  4. Once tender, remove brisket and increase oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush brisket with barbecue sauce, return to oven and roast uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes until caramelized.
  5. Let brisket rest for 15 minutes, then slice against the grain. Serve with extra sauce on the side.
